Food Memories Featured on Recipe Lion!
My Food Memory post on the Saint Bernard hot dog was recently featured on Recipe Lion’s blog! Their main recipe site is RecipeLion.com and it is free to join. The folks at Recipe Lion have restaurant recipes and copycat recipes, as well as, recipe submissions from around the world. My favorite part though is the plethora of FREE electronic cookbooks available for you to download and use. Surf on over and set up an account, it’s free and allows you to bookmark your fave recipes into a recipe box so you don’t have to hunt for that last recipe you wanted to try!
You can also check them out and become a fan on Facebook or follow them on Twitter!
PS: They’ve published two more of my pieces: Food Memories – The Doughnut Flavored Onion Ring and Food Memories – Eggs in a Frame!

Oh now that’s a great idea, John. I am forever putting in ingredient searches to try and find something I made a year ago that I forgot what it was called!
Enjoy the journey.

Hi John, congratulations on getting your work featured on the Recipe Lions Blog. I take my hat off to you.
I don’t often cook from a recipe, but i have my 21st wedding anniversary coming up in a couple of weeks so will try and make an effort and maybe cook the wife one of yours.
Thanks John, catch up soon, Barry

I must admit John, I don’t really like hot dogs, but when I looked at the recipe for the Saint Bernard Hot Dog, it did sound very tasty.
Very well done getting onto Recipe Lion

Hey John
Congratulations on getting your recipe featured at Recipe lion.com. Its a great resource to know about. I never really thought about electronic e-books on cooking. It sounds as though its a great resource to know about. I have a Russian Dish that I used to make but have misplaced the recipe so I might now try looking it up at Red Lion.
By the way the name of the dish is kubiac made from fresh salmon, wild rice, spinach, herbs, butter and wrapped in pastry.Have you ever heard of it?

Hi John,
Good to meet you here on the 100 post challenge.
I must admit that I am really not good at cooking…having a wife who cooks really well does not help either… no reason to start.
I remember as a 20year old being served a boiled egg and could not work out why it was so hard..hadn’t cracked the shell…not something I am proud of
Let a very spoilt childhood.
Congratulations on getting featured on the Recipe Lions Blog
Cheers

Your post made me realise that there is finally a use for the Ipad.
Mount it in the kitchen and use it to display all of your favourite recipes, no more pages stuck together with cheese sauce, or piles of cookbooks.
Is the Ipad sauce proof?

That’s great news John,
Featuring in Recipe Lion must be a great achievement. I myself do not cook much, I leave that to my wife. I can place a few things in the oven but not really create an original dish.

Hi John,
Now, this is very refreshing! A blog about recipes
There have been a lot of blog in this challenge in the IM world
Congratulations on getting listed with such a prominent site. That had to feel great!
My brother told me something one time about hunting for recipes online…he told me that rather than hunt for a certain recipe…he would type into Google the ingredients that he had on hand and then watch the recipes appear that used these ingredients! I thought that was pretty clever!
Thanks for educating me on that recipe site…
Good luck with the challenge!

Hi John
I love cooking. I think my love of cooking began when I was a lad and I used to watch “The Galloping Gourmet” on TV. Then, when I was older, I used to watch Keith Floyd on TV. His main ingredient seemed to be pouring himself a large glass of red wine before starting the recipe – something I have adopted in my own cooking!
Well done on getting featured on the Recipe Lion’s Blog.
I’ve posted a link to this page on identi.ca for you (makes a change from Twitter!)

Well this was a bit of a surprise on the 100 blog challenge after all the IM blogs and it’s making me feel hungry.
It’s amazing how our memories link food and smells? Sometimes the memory doesn’t match the taste though. Have you ever found that if you have not eaten something for a long time and then get the chance to eat it again it never tastes quite how you remembered it? Can be very disappointing.

I agree with Kathy, what a refreshing blog to visit.
I have only just gotten back into cooking again. I used to avoid it like the plague, however now with little one I need to prepare her good meals.
Recipe Lion sounds like a great resource to pop over and visit. I wonder if the have recipes for microwave cooking, that is what I have been learning lately.

Hey John, congrats on being featured. It’s awesome when your writing gets accolades, isn’t it?
Here’s to everyone creating their own versions of food they love. Your particular memory reminds me of another freakish hot dog combo: the Twinkie Weiner Sandwich as featured in the movie UHF. Still haven’t gotten around to making a vegan, gluten-free version of that one!
